England v Slovenia Venue - Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is one of the brilliant newly built venues that is being used for the 2010 World Cup and will play host to the crucial England v Slovenia Group C match on the 23rd June. The Stadium itself has a capacity of 48,000 and located in the Eastern Cape Province City of Port Elizabeth, the stadium will host eight World Cup matches during the Summer including a quarter-final as well as the 3rd/4th place play-off match.

The Stadium was the first of the new venues to be finished in 2009 and has hosted several big events already in anticipation of the World Cup, in the summer of 2009 the Stadium held a British Lions Tour match with the Southern Kings which successfully passed without problem.

Following the World Cup the Stadium is going to be used by the Southern Kings as well as Bay United if and when they return to the Premier League Soccer League, it has been important for South Africa to ensure that the World Cup stadiums do not become 'White Elephants' ans they appear to have avoided that at this stage with the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
